Our Team

The registered provider of the Centre is GN Lexington Property Ltd. There are five directors of the company, all of whom have extensive experience in operating residential care facilities for older people. The Registered Provider Representative is Mr. Matthew McCormack. As registered provider representative, Mr McCormack is the designated person to represent GN Lexington Property Ltd to present, answer questions and provide clarification regarding the executive governance arrangements in the centre to assure compliance with the Health Act 2007 as amended, the regulations and nationally mandated standards in relation to safely carrying on the business of the centre. 

The person in charge is Mr. Filipe Cura. He is a registered general nurse with over 7 years of experience in caring for older people, five of which were at management level. Mr. Cura possesses a Master’s in Gerontological Nursing and a Diploma in Advanced Leadership. He also has considerable experience in training and education and continues to maintain his own professional development needs in an ongoing basis. Mr. Cura will be actively involved in the day to day operation of the centre Mr. Cura reports to the registered provider representative and is accountable to the Chief Inspector for the delivery of direct care and services to residents in accordance with those responsibilities outlined in the Health Act 2007 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People) Regulations 2013. He is also accountable for ensuring that the direct care and services to residents comply with current Quality National Standards for the Care of Older People in Residential Care (HIQA, 2016) and any future revisions of same. He is the clinical lead for the clinical governance committee for the centre. His primary role in the centre is to ensure that care and services provided to residents in the home are evidenced based and comply with relevant standards and legislation. Integral to his role is the implementation of systems and processes for safe and effective care as well as monitoring the standards of care and service delivery within a framework of continuous learning and improvement. Mr Cura will be supported in his role by the Director of the Company and a Clinical Nurse Manager 2. On Mr Filipe Cura’s absence, the CNM2 (Andreia Coimbra) will deputise for him.

The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) is Andreia Coimbra. Ms. Coimbra has more than four years’ experience working at management level in a residential care setting for older people and has completed a QQI Level 6 Managing People Programme. She will report to the person in charge and will deputise for him in his absence. She will be responsible for supervising the care and services provided to residents on a day-to-day basis. Ms. Coimbra will liaise with clinical nurse managers 1 and nursing staff at floor level to monitor the care and condition of residents. She will have an active role in auditing care and standards through the audit programme for the centre. She will also act as the infection prevention and control lead for the centre.

Clinical Nurse Managers 1(CNM1) are responsible for supervising the care of residents at floor level. This includes providing direction and supervision to registered general nurses and healthcare assistants. CNM1 report directly to the CNM2 or person in charge on a day-to-day basis and are accountable to the person in charge for the performance of their roles.

Registered nurses will be responsible for assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care to individual residents in their care. The role of the registered nurse will be to provide care to residents in accordance with the national regulations, standards and the standards for nurses working with older people (An Bord Altranais, 2009). Registered nurses will report directly to the Person in charge or CNM on a day-to-day basis and will be accountable to the Person in Charge for all issues related to the assessment, planning delivery and evaluation of care of individual residents. They will also be accountable to the Person in Charge for the provision of safe and effective nursing care to residents in compliance with national nursing home regulations and standards. Registered nurses will also be accountable to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland for their professional conduct and maintenance of competence in accordance with their role. Registered nurses will deliver nursing care to residents with the support of healthcare assistants.

The role of the care assistant in the centre will be to provide both direct and indirect care to residents. On a day to day basis, healthcare assistants will provide direct care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Healthcare assistants will report to the nurse on duty regarding the care needs of individual residents and to a senior healthcare assistant for completion of their allocated duties on a day to day basis. Healthcare assistants are accountable to the PIC for all activities related to their role and responsibilities. Senior healthcare assistants will supervise the work of other healthcare assistants assigned to them.

Lexington House will have an activities co-ordinator for the centre. The activities co-ordinator will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of activities for residents in the centre. He/she will report to the Person in Charge or her deputy and will be accountable to the Person in Charge and registered provider representative for the quality of the activities provided to residents.

The centre will also have a catering team led by a head chef who will provide catering services for residents. A household team comprised of cleaning and laundry operatives will be responsible for ensuring the building, premises and linen are clean. Both catering and household staff will report to the Director of the Company.  Administrative staff will provide clerical and administrative support for the operation of the centre.

Allied healthcare professionals directly employed by the Health Service Executive will be involved in the provision of care and services to residents as required. Other allied healthcare professionals will be contracted to provide specialist services for residents in cases where the required service or professional is not available through the public services. All allied healthcare professionals will be required to report to and liaise with the nurse on duty. Those contracted by the centre will be also required to provide proof of identity, qualifications and registration with the relevant regulatory /professional body.
